Over 21 years and four shelters, from Kentucky to Washington to Tucson, I've photographed thousands of animals for adoption, many of whom wouldn't have had a second chance without the image that got them noticed. This experience, including current regular work at Pima Animal Care Center and Humane Society of Southern Arizona, taught me patience, flexibility, and how to work with anxious animals. How Pet Portrait Commissions Work
All commissions include a design consultation where we discuss your pet's personality, your vision for the portraits, and session logistics. Commission fees cover my time and expertise, professional equipment and travel throughout greater Tucson, expert editing, and private gallery presentation.
Each commission includes a complimentary artwork credit applied toward giclée archival prints, canvas, metal prints, or acrylic pieces from your gallery. These credits are valid for 180 days and help you begin building your collection immediately.
If you need more time, more pets, or more variety, I can shape the commission around those needs. The pricing page compares coverage, included artwork credit, delivery, and policies so you can choose clearly.

AFTER YOUR COMMISSION
After your session, I complete the first edit and schedule your in-person post-session design consultation within 1-2 weeks. We'll review the edited images together, make selections, and plan how the finished photographs will be used, including wall art and albums. I'll open your private online gallery within 48 hours after you make your selections.
Fine art products include archival prints, canvas, metal, acrylic, digital files, and legacy albums. During your post-session design consultation, I'll help you choose sizes and materials that suit the photographs and where you want to enjoy them.

The Animals
I photograph dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and other companion animals. Each species requires different handling, patience, and photographic approach, and I adjust my methods accordingly.

Over 20 years photographing shelter animals—many traumatized, nervous, or fearful—taught me to read body language, work patiently, and never force interactions. If your pet gets stressed easily around strangers, that experience translates directly to your commission.
Multi-pet households:
The Gallery Collection accommodates 1-2 pets comfortably, while The Signature Collection works well for 3+ pets. I can photograph animals individually and together, depending on their relationships and comfort levels with each other.

Most pets need time to warm up to cameras, lighting equipment, and strangers in their space. I work patiently, take breaks when needed, and never force interactions or stressed animals into positions. Anxious or nervous animals often produce the most meaningful portraits once they relax—and 20 years photographing frightened shelter animals taught me exactly how to facilitate that transition.

Absolutely. The Gallery Collection and Signature Collection both include time for family portraits with pets. Many clients want both—individual pet portraits for their walls and family portraits showing the relationship.

Yes, extensively. Cats require different energy, patience, and approach than dogs, and I adjust my methods accordingly. I've photographed hundreds of cats through shelter work and private commissions.

Life happens, pets get sick, and schedules change. Contact me as soon as possible and we'll find a new date that works. For senior or ill pets, I prioritize scheduling to ensure we create portraits while your pet is feeling well enough for the experience.

We'll schedule an in-person (or Zoom) photo review appointment approximately 2-3 weeks after your commission session. Within 48 hours of that appointment, your private gallery presentation will be delivered with all professionally edited images ready for selection. Rush processing is available for an additional $150 if you need faster delivery.

Complimentary artwork credits are valid for 180 days after your gallery is delivered. I send reminder emails at 90 days and again at 150 days so you don't miss your window. If your gallery expires before you finalize selections, it can be reactivated for a $50 fee.

The images in your gallery presentation are the finest work from our session—professionally edited and ready for display. I don't hold back "better" images; what you see in your gallery represents the strongest compositions from our time together.

Session fees are paid before the session and are non-refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled commission. Outside that window, deposits can be applied to rescheduling. Weather cancellations (for outdoor sessions) or in case of illness (yours or your pets) can be rescheduled without penalty.

Yes, with sensitivity and patience. I understand that senior pets may need more breaks, gentler handling, or accommodations for mobility challenges. Let me know during our design consultation so I can plan appropriately. Many of my most meaningful commissions have been with senior animals.

Digital files give you unlimited personal printing rights but require you to handle print production, color management, and quality control yourself. Fine art prints are museum-quality archival reproductions I produce myself using professional equipment, archival materials, and color calibration. Most clients find that professional prints are worth the investment for heirloom-quality results.
