Abstract Collection | Michael Kloth, MFA
Not every photograph needs to explain itself. Some images work through form, light, and color—inviting interpretation rather than demanding recognition. This collection represents my experimental work exploring photographic abstraction and alternative processes developed during graduate studies at the Academy of Art University.
These aren't landscapes that happen to be abstract. They're intentional studies in how photography can move beyond representation—transforming familiar subjects into explorations of texture, pattern, and visual rhythm. Created through techniques including infrared capture, extended exposure, intentional camera movement, and darkroom manipulation, each piece exists at the intersection of technical control and creative experimentation.
The Abstract Collection appeals to collectors seeking sophisticated wall art that complements contemporary interiors without competing for attention. These works function as visual punctuation—grounding spaces with artistic presence while allowing room for other design elements to speak.
About the Artist
Michael Kloth holds an MFA from Academy of Art University, where his graduate studies explored alternative photographic processes and experimental approaches to image-making. His work appears in the TMC Foundation's permanent Healing Arts collection in Tucson, Arizona.
The Abstract Collection represents ongoing investigation into non-representational photography—work that explores visual relationships, texture, and form independent of subject matter or narrative content. These images function as design elements rather than documentary photographs, created for spaces requiring sophisticated visual presence without literal meaning.

Viewing the Collection
The Abstract Collection is available for viewing online, with new work added periodically as projects develop. For collectors interested in commissioning site-specific abstract work for healthcare facilities, corporate spaces, or private collections, contact me directly to discuss scale, color palette, and installation requirements.
Unlike landscape or portrait commissions, abstract work functions differently in space—these pieces live quietly alongside other art rather than demanding to be the focal point. That restraint makes them particularly valuable for designers and collectors building cohesive gallery walls or corporate collections that need visual sophistication without narrative competition.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Translucent layers of chartreuse and olive fold around brilliant central light in this abstract study of depth and illumination. Scattered points of light—amber, white, cyan—create spatial complexity, while a sharp blue intrusion adds tension to the warm yellow-green spectrum.
The organic, almost cellular quality of the translucent material invites interpretation: underwater light diffusion, botanical translucency, resin or glass, intentional in-camera manipulation. This ambiguity is the work's strength—viewers project their own meaning rather than being told what to see.
Museum-quality archival giclée print on premium fine art paper. Each print is individually produced and inspected to ensure accurate color reproduction and tonal range. The composition's central luminosity and dimensional bokeh create striking presence at larger scales, making it particularly well-suited for corporate offices, medical facilities, and contemporary residential spaces.
